Kchurchill reminded me of the easy to make skewers -
"Another thing is to skewer (small skewers) cheese olives and tomatoes; or maybe baby artichokes, olives and cheese;" Know how easy it is to do and makes for great presentation.

Look what I found in Bergy's cookbook- these awesome Veggie Rice Wraps - guess whose daughter will be making Bergy's Crunchy Veggie Rice Wraps!

And in Beas's cookbook - we all love orange, ginger and hosin sauce - and I have a box of chicken wings in the freezer - this one is super easy to make.
Bea's Orange-Ginger Chicken Wings.

With so many awesome recipe choices we may have to celebrate the whole weekend! :D

BTW..Happy Anniversary Friend!
Ham rolls would be great along side the mini cheese and veggie skewers!
I love picnics too MaMere - how good would it be if we could do an outdoor appetiser party, but we had snow again today ... don't think I could convince anyone to head to the great out doors any time soon! :)

This is a classic, but it is always good, pickles rolled with cream cheese dill and a good quality ham. It isn't fancy, but always good, roll and then cut in 3rds and put a small toothpick in them.

Very basic, but just one of those stand by recipes that is always good. I used to plate those up on a platter with deviled eggs, they make a nice combo. Then there are so many different deviled eggs that are fun to try, crab, lobster, shrimp, I add pancetta and tarragon to mine and top with toasted bread crumbs

Two classics, but always tasty and easy to prepare. And they travel nice, and hold up at room temperature well too.

Another idea that crossed my mind is Dissie's stuffed cucumbers. Her photos feature deviled ham (recipe #23528), but the filling can be changed to go with other items being served.

I first had cucumber hors d'oeuvres at a tribute reception for a friend at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts in 2008, catered by one of the city's most sought after caterers. People actually tried one and waited for the next server to walk by so they could have another without looking inappropriate. Funny to watch but so good to eat. I'm sorry that I can't describe the fillings, but there were three -- all mild and creamy to go with the wines being offered. And no, I didn't try all three, but my servers just didn't have that third one. And yes, I looked for it.

I do remember that the cucumbers were peeled, small in diameter (probably an English cucumber) and cut between 1/2 and 3/4 inch tall, so they stood proudly among the other hors d'oeuvres and were finger friendly, one bite morsels, needing only two fingers of one hand while the other hand was occupied with a wine glass.

Such a recipe deserves to be savored and remembered! :)

These are really good and easy to make, but great to serve with crackers or bread sticks.

Have to love this community here at Zazz, thank you for all the great appetiser recipes and ideas that made our weekend extra special. Circumstances saw to our weekend group being smaller than first planned, they will be joining us at a later date.

That had us realize there is only so much one can do justice to, which had us go with fewer offerings - we will make the rest of the recipes in the weekends to come.

Another shrimp recipe and bubbly for supper tonight! :D
