I need to share what I did today. I walked 2 10 minute periods and had an asthma attack. Usually that means that I stop for the day, Today I used my inhalers, rested for a bit and did my last walk of the day!!
I am so proud of myself!!!

Laury, thanks for your words of encouragement and awesome work at getting your walking in. I am doing my best to let people help me, but they tend to make big messes. I had the janitor come in and move heavy things for me today, it was grocery day and I had a big order for our Christmas Concert. But I asked him to dump the sugar into the container and I found sugar everywhere after that, thankfully I found it before I slipped on it.

Must have been the muscle relaxers kicking in for me to write stop-mom. lol I really lucked out with her, she isn't negative, and has there when I needed someone to talk too.

I just started using a new (to me) DVD called "Bollyrobics," a Bollywood themes workout. It is pretty hard to follow because it goes by very fast, but it is very fun and quite challenging. I love the DVD! I will use it in between other types of workouts to give me some variety. I am thinking about getting Zumba too - it seems like it could be fun.

I was able to do my 1/2 hour yesterday. Today, however, I have oxygen on and I can't stop wheezing. Tom said that if I can stop wheezing, can take off the oxygen and be okay for 30 minutes, I can try to do another 10. That seems unlikely. I'm motivated but my breathing is just not good. I think it could be the fact we went from warm weather to cold weather.

Have you tried any of the Leslie Sansone walking to fitness workouts? I have tried several of them and I always return to them.

When I need a low impact day that doesn't knock me out, her workouts are very easy going but effective. There is no jumping at all, no dancing, and you don't need a lot of space or equipment or anything. I had started doing those when I had asthma a lot and I didn't get winded from them. It is basically just timed walking with 4 simple moves that you can modify at any time.

Thanks for your suggestion, Heather! I will talk to my doctor about it in January. I am now remembering several doctors and nurses at the hospital I go to for all my testing. They told me that when I get to the hospital, don't even try to walk it in short walks. Until the doctors know what's causing the problems, I can walk on easy breathing days. Any other day. I just wait for the next day and see how I am.

Laury, sorry to hear that you need to use your oxygen. Take care of yourself.

Me, well I have been having good days. Thankfully. The other week when I was physio, there was a staff meeting and they were discussing Craft Afternoons. It is where the teachers and support staff come up with a craft to do with the kids and we split them into groups and they rotate around the school doing different crafts, for 2 afternoons. Well 2 years ago I made cookies with the kids, and someone brought this up, well I felt like I got volunteered to do it, but took it day by day. I was still feeling well on Tuesday so I made it a go. We did Candy Cane Cookies, the kids got to make 6 each, 6 batches total. I was very organized this year, the dough was all portioned, and even had all the parchment paper cut and names on it all. We were always done early.

Tomorrow is our last day of school for the holidays, the kids are only there for 1/2 day, and we have a potluck after that for the staff. I am bringing a healthy snack, on the sign-up sheet I put "Healthy Snack (don't groan you will like it)". I am just going to bring a container for dried fruits, all fruit that I have dried myself. With lots of bananas, as last week I totally forgot to give away the leftover bananas, everyone was gone when I remembered about them so I brought them home and dried them. I have lots of pears, apples and apricots I can mix in with them.

I found some newer Leslie Sansone workouts in Target for $10.50 a DVD (in the fitness area). I grabbed the 5 mile workout, which is a lot more intense than her previous workouts. It is a great DVD - I could only go one mile tonight, but I want to keep at it each day until I get through the whole 5 miles easily. This particular workout would not be good for breathing issues, but her earlier (shorter) workouts were much more gentle. They had her 1-2 mile workout on sale as well. That is the gentler one.
