Heather, was wondering if you will do one of these food challenges for February? The gadget idea is great too but was looking forward to continuing the food one this month.

I am planning to revise the weekly grocery store challenge, and it will be focused on food.

I do plan to have another Use it or Lose it with food though in the future :)

I've thought of "milk" on the way to the market and come home without milk because it wasn't on my list. You should see me fly through a store if I know the layout and have my list. I'm not a grocery store browser.
This happens to me all the time! In fact I've gotten to the point where I repeat "milk, milk, milk" all the way to the store and when I park I immediately put it on my list or else it will be forgotten. I purchase ONLY what is on my list and nothing else. I purchased an impulse item at Costco in December and it was literally the first time I had done it years! Damn those free samples LOL.

Oh I am a sucker for the free samples too. They get me allll the time. I just bought a packet of lentil soup because of free sample. I never buy packets of soup unless I need them for a dip or other recipe. It was good though - but seriously, did I really need it? Nope. Did I rush home and make it? Nope - sitting there laughing at me in my pantry. :?

I think there is a reason that Costco uses cute little old ladies to hand out samples, make the consumer a soft touch. Who wants to say "no" to Gma? I remind myself that they will get paid whether I taste the sample or not.
