Powdered Rosemary

Post by lovinretirement » Wed Mar 29, 2023 10:34 am

If you like the flavor of rosemary but not the little pieces, buy a jar of dried rosemary and put some in a spice grinder. Grind it until it's a fine powder. But use sparingly, as it is now very concentrated.

I use my mortar and pestle to grind it, works just as well.
Thanks for your tip.

I love herbs and spices. Some time ago I lucked out on two basically new top brand coffee grinders at the Thrift Shop, use one for freshly ground peppercorns the other for spices. Would that I had thought to grind half my bottle of dried rosemary rather than buying ground rosemary which was hard to find! Great tip to be sharing Sheila! :)

Love rosemary! Don't have a grinder though... Might need to acquire one.

Rosemary is my favorite herb followed by marjoram as a close second.

You're welcome Gerry.

Shadows, mine would be thyme. You can never have enough.

I'm thinking dried rosemary would be primo mixed into salt for roasted potato or fries seasoning. Rosemary and potatoes are the bomb.
Herbs de Provence are wonderful and can be made out of the rosemary, thyme and marjoram. Along with other dried goodies from the herb garden.

I have found that freezing the rosemary first and then powdering it makes the flavor more intense.
