Okay, how are you making them and how are they different? I LOVE chicken and dumplings. LOVE.HeatherFeather wrote:Happy bday kc!
I am making Chicken & Dumplings tonight, possibly with some potatoes on the side. Also making a chocolate layer cake birthday cake. (Birthday request for m bf). Carb attack tonight!
I am kind of winging the chicken & dumplings - hope it turns out right. Trying to recreate a family memory that I have not tasted, since this will be different from the way I have made Chix & Dumplings before.

Lol! It is mainly the stew part that will be different. I have made Chicken & Dumplings with more of a creamy stew, and also with a more gravy like stew. He said his family makes it as basically normal homemade chicken soup, but then adds some wine and drop dumplings.Denise wrote:Okay, how are you making them and how are they different? Since I don't have the right recipe, I am trying out making my usual Matzo Ball soup base and then instead of matzo balls, making drop dumplings and adding a splash of wine to the broth. So far he is afraid to taste the matzo balls - I will have to get my mom to make them for him and then he'll maybe eat them ;)
I will check out the other dumpling dish mentioned above too though - might be something to try in the future

Maybe life will settle down again once school starts and the kids have a routine? It usually does.
Re: What's For Dinner?-August 2012
I saw a recipe or a photo? It was gilled pork chops with a mango salsa. There were no peaches or pineapple in the salsa. I think the pork chops may have been marinated? I wrote down the items that I needed at the grocery store & have now purchased them. I have tried for hours to find the recipe with no luck.
Please help?
EDIT: I think the pork chops were described as "spicy".

Not sure if this is the one or not- but it is marinated pork, the dijon gives it a bit of spice, and it has mangoes in the sauce (a choice of peach or mango). I also recently saw a burger I think Bergy made that had fresh mango salsa, the burger used ground pork.Ninner wrote:Help Needed!!!!!

This pork chop recipe was also recently featured in the food photo forum around the same time as the mango salsa pork burgers were featured - maybe you saw both and planned to combine the two? http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/mike-d ... ead%20more

Again Heather thank you so much for your help. One more question? I will make the mango salsa which requires 1 mango. This will last 3 days tops in the frig. What will I do with the other 5 mangos????
