Yay - finally I have a successful pizza recipe (almost). I can't tell you how many pizza recipes I have tried this summer, all the while trying to perfect a whole wheat based crust that I could eat and that would please my bf. He prefers very thick crusts, and is perfectly happy with whole wheat.

I tried many variations of the crusts - all whole wheat was too wheaty and didn't turn out right, then I had issues with the dough being underbaked. There was also the matter of finding the right sauce flavors that we both like. Anyway, I am very nearly there - still trying to get the crust fully cooked without overbrowning it, but tonight's version got this response (prefaced by a few Mmm Mmmms):
"This is one of the best pizzas I have ever had."

I will share once I nail everything and can repeat it - but I am so happy I have finally gotten to this point. The flavor of the crust was really good - a nice balance of wheat/white flour and it was honey wheat, not just regular wheat flavor.

And now my ice cream maker is churning away in the kitchen with some chocolate ice cream for dessert. Yum.

Morning,

Heather, dinner sounded yummy! Pizza here last night also with a wheat crust.

Cool here today with no rain expected. Took 15hrs. till the pump in the pool started sucking air. I can only imagine how much longer it will take to fill it.

At the moment no plans for dinner as Dd will eat at the airport. So I will grab leftovers from the frig.

I have a second pizza left over form last night, so I will most likely pop that in to reheat for dinner tonight. (BTW, posted a photo of the pizza in the food photo forum if anyone is curious).

Morning all - just got home from preparing the lunches.

Hot here as usual, but it was a bit rainy yesterday with a few showers, but nothing heavy. But, at least we got something.

Me: I have to head in to work tonight, so I think I will make myself a late lunch, and then take a couple of slices of leftover pizza from the other night to eat.
My chicken will just have to wait until tomorrow or Friday.

Catered Lunch: Was a roasted vegetable and chicken pasta salad (Greek salad) with a fresh berry salad tossed with a orange mint dressing.

Lady #1: Grilled sausage casserole w/peppers onions, potatoes and sauerkraut; pumpernickel rolls
I already dropped it off, she just needs to reheat and her guest will put the leftovers away.

Lady #2: Company, small party. A bacon wrapped giant scallop topped with a maple mustard sauce to start; herb crusted pork loin; potato gratin; glazed baby whole carrots; and apple tart

Lots to do today. Taking a bunch of stuff of have been working on at home into work tonight, so my printer is getting a good work out. Had to buy extra ink this am, lol.

I have tandoori chicken thighs marinating in the fridge and I will have Kip grill those for me tonight. I also have spinach that I need to use up so I will probably saute with lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper.

Tonight I'm making the shrimp and crab casserole, might add some broccoli.

Just found out a little bit ago that my Local's 3rd vice president (film/video) died in his sleep last night. I've known him for well over 20 years. Eating is pretty far from the top of my list right now.

invictus, I have been wanting "tandoori chicken" since I saw it served in a restaurant a few weeks ago.

Felix, I am sorry for your loss.

Church, I have been trying to connect to your "Sarasota's Shrimp" recipe. I do not know what is wrong with the connection as I have no problem with any other recipe????? Please post the link here so I can save it to hard drive.

Well the liner is in the pool & I am now waiting for the water truck. Yes it is noisy with 3 pumps going. The men have gone to dinner & will not return till 5-6pm. They said depending how it goes they may be able to remove the pumps tonight???
