The goal of following a low FODMAP diet is to eliminate foods that cause IBS symptoms and/or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) . Once you have eliminated those food for a prolonged period of time, you slowly introduce high FODMAP foods, one at a time. This helps you determine what foods cause you to have flare ups.
This diet is usually recommended by your Doctor or Gastroenterologist and it is not a diet anyone should follow for long.
Low FODMAP Diet: Why?
Re: Low FODMAP Diet: Why?
It was recently recommended by my Gastroenterologist to follow the low FODMAP diet to try to eliminate what I call gut flare ups. I was lucky enough to have coverage to pay for a dietitian, but I found most recipes in the meal plan offered to me so bland, it made it difficult for me to stay on track. So, I researched what was allowed and not, how much of this and that was acceptable and tried my best to develop recipes that worked for me. Here are a few of my favourites.
