From what was once Recipezaar - now moving on over to Recipezaaz! Going to figure out how to bring many recipes with me too!
Love the fall bounty we are now enjoying - sweet potatoes of all colors & textures, winter squash, pumpkins, greens (only going to get better with coming cold), fresh venison, lots of spots, puppy drum, shrimp & clams going into the freezer (yup, whole clams - just scrub & load into 1 gallon freezer bags & freeze - I gallon seems to make a perfect pot of clam chowder when it is too cold to clam but you want delicious chowder). Will pick up a few bushels of Stayman or Winesap apples to eat, dry & make the annual stash of applesauce & butter with soon. Still pulling lots of hot peppers - soon I have to choose the ones that's ride out winter in the garage - such a difficult choice! Still canning hot pepper sauces & jellies - cayennes, jalapenos, Turk's Caps, Scotch Bonnets, Habaneros & Thais. Got to dry a bunfh of Lemon Drops & Fish peppers. Making lots of sofrito for freezing while I have plenty of sweet peppers & onions are cheap. Eyeing the 69 pints of salsa from this summer - not yet, not yet - it is just the BEST at oyster roasts (coming in December)instead of cocktail sauce. Tallying the most productive tomatoes - putting away dried saved seed & beginning to make selections for next year (already!). Planning for LOTS of yellow & orange tomatoes for tomato juice & sauce. Learned to mix everything (canners, cherries, currants) & can the little ones whole canning whole (all sizes in the same jar) - unbelievably pretty in the jars with tomatoes of all colors (& toe curling delicious - most importantly!)
