  • The following recipe serves 4 people.

Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 6 to 8 garlic cloves, minced (or 2 tablespoons garlic powder)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, with liquid
  • 1/4 cup beef stock or water
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoons hot sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can (15 ounces) white beans (any kind)
  • Frozen french fries (1 regular size package will do)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (about 1/4 cups for each serving or use more)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Add some oil to a large pot, heat to medium heat or higher.

  • Step 2: Add onion, bell pepper, saute for 10 minutes or till softened. Add in garlic, saute 2-3 minutes.

  • Step 3: Add in the beef and cook until browned (10 minutes).

  • Step 4: Add tomatoes, beef stock, chili powder, hot sauce, salt and pepper and beans, bring up to a boil. Turn heat down to low and let simmer for 45 minutes or longer.

  • Step 5: Prepare fries according to package directions (fries should be done about the same time as the chili).

  • Step 6: Fill the plates as follows: first place desired amount of fries on the plate, top with some shredded cheese, cover with desired amount of chili (leave some chili for the top), top with more cheese, finish with a little of the chili

  • Step 7: Repeat for all other plates.
