Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup brown or white sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups graham flour
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup raisins (can use more)
  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • Walnuts, chopped and optional

How to Make

  • Step 1: Using a stand mixer, beat the buttermilk, molasses and sugar together.

  • Step 2: Add in the rest of the dry ingredients, omitting the raisins and nuts. Mix well.

  • Step 3: Fold in walnuts and raisins.

  • Step 4: Pour into two 9x5 inch loaf pans.

  • Step 5: Cover tightly with a piece of tinfoil that has been sprayed with cooking spray.

  • Step 6: Bake for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.

  • Step 7: Remove from oven and cool for 15 minutes before removing from loaf pan.
