Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey (a mixture of dark and white meat)
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 3 to 4 teaspoons lemon rind (finely grated)
  • 1 small lemon (juice of 1 small lemon)
  • 3 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh mint, plus more to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (or lemon pepper)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (Lawry`s seasoning salt)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Sliced buns
  • 4 to 6 lemon wedges

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place all the ingredients except the buns in a bowl and mix well with a fork.

  • Step 2: Divide the mixture into 4 or 6 equal portions for burgers. Shape each portion into a patty.

  • Step 3: Place the patties on a parchment-lined sheet pan or large plate, cover, and chill in the refrigerator 6 hours or overnight.

  • Step 4: Heat the oil in a large, heavy skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Step 5: Working in batches so as not to crowd the skillet, add the patties and cook for 5-6 minutes each side until golden brown and cooked through.

  • Step 6: Transfer the patties to a warm serving plate and serve immediately with the buns and the lemon wedges for squeezing over the burgers
