Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 Cups beans (Dry Pinto Beans)
  • Water (as required To More Than Cover)
  • 1/2 Pound Meat (should include only one of the following: Saltpork, Ham Hock, or diced bacon)
  • 1 Large Onion, Chopped
  • 1 Clove Garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon Oregano

How to Make

  • Step 1: Soak beans in water overnight.

  • Step 2: Add salt pork, onion, garlic, chili powder, cumin and oregano; simmer on low heat at least 4 hours or until water is absorbed and mixture is thick.

  • Step 3: Add salt to taste if other than Salt Pork is used.

  • Step 4: * Meats should include only one of the following: Saltpork, Ham Hock, or diced bacon.
