  • 1 cup granulated sugar (white)
  • 3/4 cup margarine (hard margarine at room temp.)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for rolling, approximate)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cream margarine and sugar.

  • Step 2: Add egg, beat thoroughly.

  • Step 3: Add molasses and blend.

  • Step 4: In another bowl mix dry ingredients, then add to wet ingredients. Mix to combine.

  • Step 5: Roll into small balls (3/4” – 1”). Coat balls in sugar, place on cookie sheet 2 inches apart.

  • Step 6: Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes.
