Step 1: Chop lettuce.
Step 2: Saute' in a frying pan with the butter, sugar, and vinegar.
Step 3: Stir constantly until lettuce is barely wilted.
Step 4: Add the flour, salt, pepper and the egg. Mix well.
Step 5: Pour in the stock. Bring to a boil, remove from heat.
Step 6: Add the cream. Stir.
Step 7: Serve with the croutons.
