Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 pounds lean hamburger
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup large flake rolled oats (the old fashioned kind)
  • 1 can (14 ounce) vegetable soup, undiluted, (Cambell's is what Mom used)
  • 1 small onion , chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3/4 cup chilli sauce
  • Vegetable cooking spray

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350f degrees. In a large bowl combine all ingredients except chilli sauce and cooking spray; Mix well.

  • Step 2: Line a cookie tray with foil and spray with veggie cooking spary. Dump the meat mixture onto the cookie tray and shape into a loaf. Using a small spoon or knife, run a fairly deep groove down the centre top of the loaf; fill the groove with the chilli sauce.

  • Step 3: Roast in preheated oven on the centre rack for 65 to 75 minutes; remove to a warm platter and let sit for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve hot or refridgerate and serve sliced cold with potato salad or in sanwiches.
