  • 7 cups cubed bread (1/2” cubes, slightly stale is best)
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs (lightly beaten)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup half & half (or heavy cream)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place bread and raisins in greased 2-qt. baking dish.

  • Step 2: Combine water and brown sugar; pour over bread.

  • Step 4: Bake at 350ºF for 50-60 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm or cold.
