Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2: In a large bowl cream the shortening with brown sugar, water and vanilla until blended.
Step 3: Add in eggs and continue beating until fluffy and combined
Step 4: In a small bowl combine the flour with cocoa, salt and baking soda; add to the creamed mixture and beat until combined.
Step 5: Mix in the chocolate chips and nuts.
Step 6: Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto a greased cooking/baking sheet.
Step 7: Bake for 7-9 minutes (do not over bake).
