Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 pound fresh white mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 pound fresh crimini mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme OR 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 french bread loaf, split loaf lenghtwise and then crosswise, cutting loaf into 4 pieces.
  • 2 cups grated Swiss cheese

How to Make

  • Step 1: In large fry pan over medium heat, melt butter. Add mushrooms and garlic. Cook until mushrooms begin to brown, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Add wine, red wine vinegar and thyme. Turn off heat.

  • Step 2: Hollow out inside slightly of the bread quarters and discard soft bits. Place bread pieces onto cookie sheet.

  • Step 3: Toast bread lightly under broiler. Remove from oven.

  • Step 4: Fill each section of bread evenly with mushroom mixture. Top each section with 1/2 cup Swiss cheese. Broil until cheese is melted and golden. Serve immediately.
