Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage (links, meat removed from casings)
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni, chopped (thick sliced dry Italian pepperoni)
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 jars (24 ounces) marinara sauce (just use your favorite brand)
  • 1 can (16 ounce) whole tomatoes, undrained and chopped
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/3 cup red wine (Chianti or similar)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a Dutch oven add ground beef and Italian sausage meat with onions with about 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Cook stirring frequentely until the meat is well browned.

  • Step 2: Add in the two jars of marinara sauce, chopped tomatoes with juice, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and pepperoni salt and pepper. Bring to a boil stirring.

  • Step 3: Reduce the heat to low and simmer covered 1 hour. Uncover add in red wine and simmer (uncovered) another 45-60 minutes. Season again with salt at the end. Serve with pasta.
