Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • FOR CRUMB MIXTURE
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup pecan nuts (chopped or chocolate chips)
  • FOR FILLING
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 3 to 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate (or bittersweet chocolate, chopped and melted microwave or bain marie)
  • 1 teaspoon coffee granules (Espresso or coffee granules)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Combine flour, brown sugar and butter in large bowl. Beat at low speed until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  • Step 3: Stir in pecans or chocolate chips.

  • Step 4: Reserve 3/4 cup crumb mixture. Set aside.

  • Step 5: Press remaining crumb mixture onto bottom of ungreased 8 inch square baking pan. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly browned.

  • Step 6: Meanwhile, beat cream cheese and melted chocolate in mixer bowl for 4 minutes. Spread filling over hot, partially baked crust.

  • Step 7: Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture and press lightly into filling.

  • Step 8: Continue baking for 30-40 minutes, or until filling is set.

  • Step 9: Cool completely, or refrigerate before cutting into bars. Store refrigerated.
