Step 1: Cook sausage until brown, add garlic and basil. Sauté 10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients: beans, tomatoes and beef broth. Cover and simmer 10-15 minutes, then remove from heat.
Step 2: Season with salt and pepper.
Step 3: Serve in soup bowl; sprinkle with Romano or Parmesan cheese. Deeeeeelicious!
