  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded old cheddar cheese (additional for garnish)
  • 1 1/2 cups toasted walnuts, chopped

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, combine beaten egg, milk and melted butter. Add to flour mixture and stir just until moistened (treat this batter like a muffin batter, do not over mix).

  • Step 2: Fold in Sharp Canadian Cheddar and toasted walnut pieces. Turn batter into greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pan or 3 (2-cup) mini loaf pans.

  • Step 3: Bake in preheated 350 °F oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until done (this is for the 9x5 pan). Sprinkle with additional grated cheddar. Cool 10 minutes in pan; turn out and cool completely.
