Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3/4 cup milk (not fat free)
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups grated sharp or extra sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups baking apples, peeled, either grated or chopped into small pieces
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans or both)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine dry ingredients. Separately, combine eggs, milk, butter and then mix well into the dry ingredients.

  • Step 2: Stir in the remaining ingredients (cheese, apples, nuts).

  • Step 3: Spoon into a loaf pan (9 inch by 5 inch) that has been lined with parchment paper (best) or else has been well-greased and lightly floured.

  • Step 4: Bake at 350 degrees for 60-70 min or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand 5 minutes, remove from pan, continue to cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing. Makes 1 loaf.
