  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3/4 cup oil (vegetable oil)
  • 1 1/2 cups molasses
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, for rolling

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine dry ingredients together in a bowl until well-mixed.

  • Step 2: Combine wet ingredients in a bowl until well-mixed.

  • Step 3: Gradually add flour mixture to wet ingredients and mix well.

  • Step 4: Cover and refrigerate dough at least one hour (I've left it up to two days).

  • Step 5: Preheat oven to 375F; grease baking sheets.

  • Step 6: Using your hands, roll dough into balls slightly larger than walnuts, then roll in granulated sugar to coat.

  • Step 7: Place balls about 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.

  • Step 8: Bake at 375F for 8-10 minutes, watching carefully so the bottoms don't burn.

  • Step 9: Cool completely on wire racks before storing.
