Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 4 portabella mushrooms (choose a size that will fit on burger buns)
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoons fresh grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon liquid honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns, brushed with olive oil then toasted on the grill

How to Make

  • Step 1: Clean all the mushroom caps very well. Hold each mushroom upright and carefully twist out or cut the stem flush with the cap. Reserve the stem for other recipes. Tap the cap to dislodge dirt from the gills. Clean with a soft brush or cloth.

  • Step 2: Place mushrooms in shallow glass dish.

  • Step 3: Combine next eight ingredients. Brush marinade on both sides of mushrooms. Pour remaining marinade over. Cover. Refrigerate several hours or overnight.

  • Step 4: Grill or broil, 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until tender, basting frequently with marinade. Serve whole on toasted buns.
