Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 tablespoons oil (vegetable oil)
  • 1 medium yellow onion (thinly sliced)
  • 140 grams fresh mushrooms (about 2 cups whole, then quartered)
  • 2 to 3 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast (cut into strips, or turkey strips)
  • 1 cup chicken broth (divided)
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce (or adjust to heat level)
  • 1 cup sour cream (low-fat is okay, do not use fat-free)
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large skillet heat oil and add onion, mushrooms and garlic. Cook over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes or until onions are tender. Remove from pan and set aside.

  • Step 2: Add chicken strips to skillet and cook 4 minutes. Stir in cooked onion, mushrooms and garlic. Add 3/4 cup of broth, hoisin sauce, soy sauce and chili garlic sauce, stir to combine and cook 5 minutes.

  • Step 3: In a small bowl, combine remaining 1/4 cup broth and cornstarch and stir into mixture; heat to boiling and cook stirring about 1 - 1 1/2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream. Season with salt and pepper. Serve over rice or egg noodles.
