Step 1: Preheat oven to 375 °F.
Step 2: For easier slicing, cut thin slice from ends of each potato; discard. Cut potatoes into 1/4 inch thick slices. Dry slices and place in single layer on lightly greased shallow baking sheet. Brush with melted butter; sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Step 3: Bake 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Combine cheddar cheese, bacon and onions. Spoon onto potato slices. Bake 5 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.
