Step 1: Cook pasta in boiling salted water, reserving 3/4 cup pasta water.
Step 2: Combine oil and onions in separate pot; saute over medium heat until onion turns golden, about 5 minutes.
Step 3: Add peas and season with salt and pepper.
Step 4: Stir pea mixture well and then add about 1/2 cup water.
Step 5: Cook over medium heat until peas are tender, about 6 - 8 minutes.
Step 6: When peas are tender, remove from heat.
Step 7: Puree half the pea mixture.
Step 8: Combine pureed peas with whole peas in pot.
Step 9: Add 3/4 cup reserved pasta water to peas.
Step 10: When pasta is done, drain, and toss with sauce and serve at once with a grating of cheese.
