Step 2: Cut in the butter with a fork and stir in the milk. You might need a bit more the 2/3 cup depending on type of flour. You want a light dough consistency.
Step 3: Drop spoonfuls batter into simmering broth dipping spoon into broth to loosen the dough off the spoon.
Step 4: Cover and simmer until dumplings are cooked through, about 10 to 12 minutes.
