Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 3 large eggs

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and nutmeg.

  • Step 2: In a separate bowl the butter, buttermilk and eggs.

  • Step 3: Pour into the dry mixture and stir well until combined and form a dough.

  • Step 4: On a floured surface, roll out the dough until about 1” thick. Cut out the doughnuts with a 3” cookie cutter and cut out the centers with a 1/2” cookie cutter.

  • Step 5: Drop doughnuts in the hot oil and fry until golden and they float to the top.

  • Step 6: Flip and fry on both sides. Drain on a paper towel.
