Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound apples (peeled, cored and chopped up sweet apples)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place the chopped apples in a heavy saucepan along with the ginger, allspice, brown sugar and water.

  • Step 2: Bring to a boil and reduce heat; cover and simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes until apples are just soft but not falling apart.

  • Step 3: Set aside and keep warm by keeping lid on.

  • Step 4: Bring the milk to a boil; remove from heat and add the rolled oats.

  • Step 5: Return to low heat and stir for about 5 minutes until oatmeal has thickened and softened.

  • Step 6: Stir in 1/2 of the apple mixture and divide mixture into 4 bowls.

  • Step 7: Top these 4 bowls with the rest of the apple mixture and enjoy.
