Step 1: In a large frying pan, cook the onion until almost done.
Step 2: Add beef and stir, cooking until meat is cooked through.
Step 3: Add your salt, pepper and garlic powder over the top of the mixture, mixing well. (Season to your liking).
Step 4: Spoon mixture into a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Step 5: Top the beef with the 1 can of whole kernel corn. Next, top the whole corn layer with the cream style corn and spread.
Step 6: Cook and mash the potatoes until smooth, adding milk and butter to your liking.
Step 7: Add the mashed potatoes, spreading over the top of the casserole.
Step 8: Dot with pats of butter all over the top.
Step 9: Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes, or until potatoes are lightly browned and the casserole is nice and hot.
