Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 3 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup mashed sweet potato (cooked, or pumpkin)
  • 1/2 cup half and half (or milk)
  • FOR HONEY BUTTER
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened (or margarine, softened)
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400F; combine the first 6 ingredients in medium bowl.

  • Step 2: Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  • Step 3: Combine sweet potatoes and cream; stir into crumb mixture just until moistened.

  • Step 4: Turn onto lightly floured board and knead gently 8-10 times.

  • Step 5: Pat or roll out to 1/2" thickness; cut with a floured 2 1/2" biscuit cutter.

  • Step 6: Place 1" apart on either a greased or parchment lined baking sheet.

  • Step 7: Bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown.

  • Step 8: Meanwhile in small bowl, beat the butter, honey and cinnamon until well blended; serve with warm biscuits
