Step 1: Bring oil to medium-high heat in a large, heavy bottomed pot.
Step 2: Add onion and garlic and cook until translucent.
Step 3: Add the chicken broth, broccoli florets, thyme, and savory.
Step 4: Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium and simmer covered until broccoli is cooked.
Step 5: Puree with an immersion blender and add parmesan cheese and cream.
Step 6: Heat through; do not allow boiling.
Step 7: Add salt and pepper to taste and serve.
