Step 3: In stockpot, heat butter and onions.
Step 4: Season lightly when chicken broth is hot.
Step 5: Temper the milk ingredients.
Step 6: Then add the chicken broth to milk.
Step 7: Add to onions.
Step 8: Add rice and chicken.
Step 9: Simmer covered for 20 minutes, stirring so it doesn't burn, don't boil.
Step 10: Season to taste.
Step 11: Stir in sour cream.
