Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 5 pounds beef brisket
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper, freshly ground, to taste
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, sliced
  • 1 cup chili sauce (Heinz)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup parsley, fresh, minced
  • 10 ounces beer (1 bottle)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 325F.

  • Step 2: Remove most of the fat from meat, wash and dry.

  • Step 3: Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

  • Step 4: Place the meat, fat side up, in a casserole and cover with the onions, celery, chili sauce, water and parsley.

  • Step 5: Bake uncovered for 1 hour.

  • Step 6: Pour the beer over the beef and bake covered for 3 more hours or until tender.

  • Step 7: Cool to room temperature.

  • Step 8: Refrigerate, skim off the fat, slice and reheat in the oven.
