  • 1/4 cup onions, sliced
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1/2 pound kohlrabi, peeled, diced
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled, diced (5)
  • 1/2 cup cauliflower, frozen
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon parsley, dried
  • Flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons chicken bouillon
  • 4 ounces cooked barley

How to Make

  • Step 1: In large stockpot, melt butter.

  • Step 2: Add onions, celery, carrots and kohlrabi, season lightly.

  • Step 3: Cook until softened.

  • Step 4: Add rest of ingredients and simmer until veggies are soft.

  • Step 5: Meanwhile, cook flour mixture until brown don't burn.

  • Step 6: Add water to thicken and season to taste.

  • Step 7: Add to soup mixture and cook until thickened.
