  • 4 ounces cooked barley
  • 1 cup hash browns, frozen
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Flour
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oil and brown onions, season lightly.

  • Step 2: Add potatoes, sauerkraut, water and barley.

  • Step 5: Add caraway seeds at end.

  • Step 6: When potatoes are done, add browned flour mixture.

  • Step 7: Cook until thickened, adding water if needed.
