Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 pounds beef liver (calf liver, or 1 1/2 pounds baby beef liver, cut into 1 inch strips)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Cayenne pepper (1 dash)
  • 1/4 cup butter (or bacon drippings)(I use half butter and half olive oil)
  • 2 yellow onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1 can (8 ounce) sliced mushrooms (undrained, I use fresh mushrooms and 1/2 cup of beef broth)
  • 2 cups sour cream (I use no fat sour cream)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

How to Make

  • Step 1: Season liver with salt and cayenne. Preheat frypan. Melt butter and saute onions until tender, about 10 minutes.

  • Step 2: Add liver and brown on all sides. Add mushrooms with liquid. Reduce heat, simmer covered for 5 to 7 minutes.

  • Step 3: Stir in sour cream and continue cooking for an additional 8 to 10 minutes. Stir in Worcestershire sauce.
