Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 potato, large (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 whole onion, small (thinly sliced, red is nice)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 to 1 1/4 cups milk (depending on the size of the potato, I use 2%)
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, sharp (shredded, divided)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (or margarine)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400f degrees. Add the potato slices, onion slices, salt and pepper, garlic and half of the cheese to a small casserole dish, stir to mix thoroughly: pour the milk over and stir. Top evenly with the other half of the cheese and dot with the butter.

  • Step 2: Place on the middle rack in the oven and bake for approximately 45 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the potatoes are soft.
