Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup onions, chopped
  • 1 cup bell pepper, green, diced
  • 1 garlic clove, smashed
  • 1 tablespoon creole seasoning
  • 7 ounces rice, dry, long grain white (1 cup )
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 30 ounces black-eyed peas (2 cans)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook the ground beef with onions and bell peppers.

  • Step 2: Cook until browned, drain if needed.

  • Step 3: Add garlic and seasoning to taste.

  • Step 4: Add rice, stir around a minute or so and add water and peas (some folks drain them, I don't)

  • Step 5: Cover.

  • Step 6: Simmer flr 20 minutes covered.

  • Step 7: Let set covered 5 minutes off the heat.

  • Step 8: Season to taste.
