Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Syrup
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 lemons, peeled in wide strips
  • Cocktails
  • 4 ounces bourbon
  • 2 ounces lemon juice, freshly squeezed (from 2 lemons)
  • 2 ounces honey simple syrup (recipe above)
  • 1 cup ice
  • Garnish
  • 2 lemon twists

How to Make

  • Step 1: Bring 1/4 cup honey, 1/4 cup water, and 2 wide lemon peel strips to a boil in a small saucepan over medium heat.

  • Step 2: Reduce the heat to maintain a simmer and cook until slightly reduced, 3 minutes.

  • Step 3: Remove the saucepan from the heat and let cool completely.

  • Step 4: Remove and discard the lemon peels.

  • Step 5: If not using immediately, refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

  • Step 6: Make the cocktails:

  • Step 7: Place 4 ounces bourbon, 2 ounces lemon juice, and 2 ounces honey simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add enough ice to fill the shaker halfway.

  • Step 8: Seal the shaker and shake until the outside of the shaker is cold and frosty, about 30 seconds.

  • Step 9: Fill 2 old-fashioned glasses with ice.

  • Step 10: Pour the cocktail through a strainer into the glasses. Garnish each cocktail with a lemon twist.
