Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 8 slices panettone bread, cut in half crosswise (1/2 inch thick)
  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons orange peel, grated
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom, ground

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

  • Step 2: On a rimmed baking sheet place the bread and toast until golden, turning once (10 minutes).

  • Step 3: Meanwhile in the bowl of an electric mixer add the butter and orange peel and blend to combine.

  • Step 4: On a small plate combine the sugar and cardamom.

  • Step 5: Remove the panettone from oven and spread one side of each slice with butter mixture and then press into the sugar mixture and put back in oven and bake for another 3-5 minutes or until topping bubbles.
