Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 10 tomatillos, fresh
  • 5 green chiles, seeded
  • 1 or 2 jalapeños, seeded
  • 2 green onions, whole, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
  • 1 cup sour cream, optional

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a saucepan add water and bring it to a boil over medium high heat.

  • Step 2: Remove the papery husks of the the tomatillos by running them under warm water and then one at a time drop the tomatillos into the boiling water and simmer for 5 minutes or until they are slightly softened; drain and cool.

  • Step 3: In a food processor puree the tomatillos and then remove them and place in a bowl.

  • Step 4: Add the chiles, jalapeño, onion and salt to food processor and chop and add to tomatillos.

  • Step 5: Add the salt, lime zest, cilantro and pureed tomatillos to the food processor and chop. Remove from food processor. Blend in sour cream, if using.

  • Step 6: Remove all and stir together -- may be stored in refrigerator.
