  • 1 pound beef round steak, fat trimmed
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, smashed
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, grated
  • Wok
  • 1/4 cup salad oil
  • Vegetables
  • 1 cup green onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup green bell peppers, cut into 1-inch squares
  • 2 stalks celery, thinly sliced
  • Slurry
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Garnish
  • 2 tomatoes, cut into wedges

How to Make

  • Step 1: With a very sharp knife, cut beef across grain into thin strips, 1/8-inch thick.

  • Step 2: Combine soy sauce, garlic and ginger.

  • Step 3: Add beef, toss and set aside while preparing vegetables.

  • Step 4: Heat oil in wok.

  • Step 5: Add beef mixture and toss over high heat until browned.

  • Step 6: Turn heat up and add vegetables.

  • Step 7: Toss until vegetables are tender crisp, about 10 minutes.

  • Step 8: Mix cornstarch with broth.

  • Step 9: Add to wok and stir and cook until thickened.

  • Step 10: Add tomatoes and heat through.
