Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 oranges
  • 2 lemons
  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks (at least, 3 inch-sticks)
  • 1 teaspoon whole allspice
  • Clove studded orange slices (for garnish)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Squeeze juice from oranges and lemons into a bowl, reserving rinds.

  • Step 2: Bring citrus juice, rings, apple cider, and next 3 ingredients to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat, and simmer 25 minutes. Pour mixture through a wire-mesh strainer into a container, discarding solids. Garnish, if desired. Yields: 1 gallon.

  • Coves Studded Orange Slices

  • Step 3: Poke small holes around the edges of each orange slice with a fork or tip of a knife, and insert whole coves.

  • NOTE: Enjoy this hot or cold. To serve warm, keep the beverage in coffee carafes or a slow cooker.
