Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2/3 pounds country sausage links or bulk sausage (like the Jimmy Dean type of sausage)
  • 2 cooking apples, red or green, cored and cut into 1/2-inch wedges
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place the sausage in a skillet and fry, turning as necessary, until nearly done (see Note). Add the apple wedges and sauté in the sausage fat until almost soft but not mushy (if there isn't enough fat in the pan, you can either add a touch of oil, butter, or bacon fat).

  • Step 2: Season with a good grind of black pepper, to taste.

  • Step 3: Drain the sausage and apple quickly on paper towels, then arrange on a platter and serve hot.

  • NOTE: depending on the size of your skillet, amount of sausages cooked, you may want to remove the sausages and set them aside, and then place them back into the skillet with the cooked apples towards the end.
