Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 8 cups Chinese napa cabbage (wombok), shredded
  • 5 green onions, finely sliced on the diagonal
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds (100g/ 3.5oz)
  • Dressing
  • 5 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil, toasted
  • 6 tablespoons olive oil
  • Garnish
  • 5 ounces chow mein noodles, heated (1 can)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Toast almonds: Lightly toast the slivered almonds in a small skillet over medium heat until lightly browned (no oil).

  • Step 2: Remove immediately and let cool.

  • Step 3: Dressing: shake dressing ingredients in a jar until sugar is dissolved. (This keeps for 3 weeks!)

  • Step 4: Shred cabbage: Toss everything except crispy noodles.

  • Step 5: Place cabbage in a big bowl with toasted almonds and green onions.

  • Step 6: Pour over dressing, toss well.

  • Step 7: Add crispy noodles,(chow mein noodles)

  • Step 8: Toss warm noodles just before serving so they stay crisp. Or serve on the side
