Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 4 cups packed fresh basil leaves (about 3 large bunches)
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil (premium)
  • 1/3 cup pine nuts or cashews
  • 4 plump fresh large garlic cloves (or 6 medium)
  • 1/2 cup DOP Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, grated or chopped (about 4 ounces)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine the basil, olive oil, pine nuts and garlic cloves in a food processor.

  • Step 2: Blend until a paste forms, stopping to push down the basil.

  • Step 3: Add in the Parmesan cheese, kosher salt and pepper. Blend until just smooth.

  • Step 4: Transfer to a container and refrigerate.
