  • 180 grams Halloumi or cheese, sliced
  • 2 Red Birdseye Chilies, thinly sliced (small)
  • 2 teaspoons baby capers, drained
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon rind
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 80 grams lettuce leaves

How to Make

  • Step 1: 1. Heat 2 teaspoons of oil in a medium-sized frying pan on medium-high heat. Cook the Halloumi slices or cheese slices in batches for about 2 minutes on each side until they turn golden. Then, transfer it to a plate.

  • Step 2: 2. Heat the rest of the oil in the same pan. Put in the chilli and capers. Stir and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until the capers warm up, and the chilli turns golden.

  • Step 3: 3. Then, add the lemon rind and cook for another minute. Stir continuously. Finally, add the lemon juice and let it simmer.

  • Step 4: 4. Place the halloumi and lettuce on a serving plate. Pour the hot lemon mixture over them. Sprinkle with pepper. Serve right away.
